This week, my blog broadly focuses on the importance of networking, sharing ideas and raising awareness of what we are doing, why we are doing these things and the impact we need to see as a result us working differently with our service users, families, carers and our partners across Norfolk and Suffolk.

This week in my blog, I’d like to focus on a number of important initiatives, developments and announcements we have made over the last couple of weeks, all which link to our strategic improvement and transformation programmes and our four priorities as a Trust: improving health, improving care, improving culture and improving value.

Throughout my blog this week, you will see a number of key themes emerge. These focus on our work to improve both safety and quality, as well as supporting our existing and future colleagues to improve the culture of our organisation.

I’d like to start my blog this week with a thank you to all colleagues who spent time away from family and friends over the Easter Weekend to provide support and care to service users and carers. I am truly grateful and hope everyone managed to get some downtime over the long weekend.

Over the last two weeks, Caroline has been on annual leave. To continue with our commitment to publishing a senior leadership blog, I wanted to share some of our important messages for our service users, families, carers, partners and colleagues from the last two weeks.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen a number of inquests take place across Norfolk and Suffolk, some of which have resulted in learning for our Trust. As CEO and a nurse by background, I am always looking at ways in which we can change how we do things, to improve outcomes and experiences for our service users, families, carers and staff.

I am very proud to be a nurse and am delighted to celebrate Mental Health Nurses Day this Wednesday which gives us an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the work and commitment of our mental health nurses.

I am delighted that we are starting 2024 as we left last year – continuing with our commitment to significant, sustained improvement.

I want to begin this blog with a massive ‘thank you’ for everyone’s efforts over the extended Christmas weekend. You made an enormous difference to our capability, capacity and responsiveness for our service users.
